Crowns & Bridges

Strong repairs that look like real teeth.

When a tooth is too damaged for a filling, a crown protects what is left and restores the strength to chew normally. When a tooth is missing, a bridge fills the gap without surgery — both are crafted to match your existing teeth.

When you might need one

Cracked teeth, large fillings that have failed, teeth weakened after root canal treatment, or a missing tooth between two healthy ones — all situations where a crown or bridge gives you a long-term result rather than a short-term patch.

Crowns

  • • Protect a cracked or weakened tooth
  • • Restore a tooth after root canal treatment
  • • Cover a large filling that has failed
  • • Made from porcelain to match your other teeth

Bridges

  • • Fill a gap from a missing tooth
  • • Anchor to healthy teeth on either side
  • • No surgery required
  • • Restore your bite and natural smile

FAQs

Questions people usually ask

How long does a crown last?

A well-fitted porcelain crown typically lasts 10 to 15 years, often longer. Lifespan depends on your bite, hygiene habits, and whether you grind your teeth at night. We will let you know if a nightguard would help protect your investment.

How many appointments does a crown take?

Usually two visits. At the first, we shape the tooth, take an impression, and fit a temporary crown. The lab makes the final crown over a couple of weeks, then we bond it in place at the second visit.

Will a crown look natural?

Modern porcelain crowns are matched to the shade and shape of your existing teeth. Most people cannot tell which tooth has been crowned. We check the colour with you before the final fit.

Is a bridge better than an implant?

Bridges are quicker, do not need surgery, and cost less upfront — but they involve grinding down the two teeth either side of the gap. Implants preserve those neighbouring teeth and last longer, but cost more and take months. We will talk through both options honestly at your assessment.

How much do crowns and bridges cost?

Cost depends on the materials used and the complexity of the case. We provide a clear, itemised quote at your assessment, including any rebate you can claim from your health fund.

How do I look after a crown or bridge?

Brush twice a day, floss daily — and for bridges, use a floss threader or interdental brush to clean underneath. Regular check-ups let us monitor the surrounding gum and tooth health.
