How long do whitening results last?
Most people see results that last 1 to 2 years before they want a top-up. Coffee, tea, red wine, and smoking shorten that timeline. Take-home trays make top-ups easy when you notice the colour fading.
Is professional whitening better than over-the-counter kits?
Professional whitening uses a stronger, more controlled gel and we protect your gums during treatment. Off-the-shelf kits are weaker and can cause sensitivity or uneven results because the trays do not fit properly.
Does whitening cause sensitivity?
Some people get short-term sensitivity to cold for a day or two after whitening. It usually settles on its own. We can use desensitising gel or adjust the protocol if you are prone to sensitivity.
Will whitening work on crowns or veneers?
No — whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. If you have crowns, veneers, or composite fillings on your front teeth, they will stay the same colour. We discuss this at your consultation so the result matches your expectations.
How white will my teeth get?
Most people lift several shades, but the final result depends on your starting colour and the cause of the staining. We talk through realistic expectations at your consultation rather than promising a specific shade.
