FAQs

Questions people usually ask

What is restorative dentistry?

It is the umbrella term for treatments that repair or replace damaged, decayed, or missing teeth — fillings, crowns, bridges, implants, dentures, and root canal treatment. The goal is to bring your mouth back to comfortable, healthy function.

How do I know which restorative option is right for me?

It depends on how much tooth is left, the position in your mouth, your bite, and your budget. We talk through the options at your assessment, including the trade-offs of each, so you can make an informed decision.

How long do restorative treatments last?

It varies — composite fillings typically 5 to 10 years, crowns 10 to 15 years, bridges around 10 years, implants often a lifetime. Lifespan depends on your hygiene, your bite, and habits like grinding.

Will I be in pain during the procedure?

All restorative work is done under local anaesthetic so you should not feel pain during treatment. Some procedures (like crown preparation or root canal treatment) may cause mild tenderness afterwards that settles with over-the-counter pain relief.

Do you offer payment plans?

For larger treatment plans we can discuss payment options at your consultation. Most private health funds also cover a portion of restorative work — bring your card and we can check on the spot.

How long does treatment take?

A simple filling is one visit. Crowns and bridges usually take two visits over a few weeks. Implants take 3 to 6 months from start to finish. We map out a timeline at your assessment so you know what to expect.
